Texas Copper Spider Lily or Mexican Yellow Hats. We  owe our thanks to Yucca Do Nursery in Texas for this Texas native. The foliage closely resembles that of Daylily, and of course it is a close relative in the lily family. In late summer to early fall it will put up flower stalks of 3-5' which will be lined with turks-cap-like reflexed petaled yellow flowers. It is one of those plants that is so unimposing that one can't over use it. It can even naturalize in the garden but will never become a pest. After all, it is a native North American, so who should mind? We had previously sold this plant as Echeandia sp., but now know it to be correctly identified as E. texensis. Grow in full sun to part shade and it asks nothing in return.
