Unraveled Japanese Boxwood. One will most often find this cultivar listed as a Buxus sempervirens cultivar, but that is completely false. With a mere cursory observation, it is obvious that this cultivar is Buxus microphylla japonica. I can't understand why so many good plantsmen fail to see this. I have confirmed this proper identification with plantsman extraordinaire Dr. Todd Lasseigne. It makes a weeping mound which is really quite unusual. It would be great planted at the edge of a stone wall so that it could cascade over it. It does well in sun or shade and also is excellent in a container. This species is one of the best for container planting because I don't think I have ever seen anything dry out as badly as this plant and still survive.
